Ethics and Code of Practice

At ARHistory, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, inclusivity, and responsibility in all our projects. Our Code of Practice is built around the following core principles:

  1. Cultural Respect and Preservation
We respect and honour the cultural heritage we work with. Our digital experiences aim to preserve and promote historical narratives while fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse stories they represent. We collaborate closely with museums, galleries, and local communities to ensure that our work is historically accurate and culturally sensitive.

  2. Inclusivity and Accessibility
We strive to make art, history, and culture accessible to everyone. Our digital experiences are designed with inclusivity in mind, ensuring that they are available to diverse audiences regardless of age, background, or ability. We are committed to improving accessibility by incorporating features that cater to people with disabilities and underserved communities.

  3. Transparency and Collaboration
Our approach is collaborative, transparent, and open. We work alongside curators, historians, and community leaders to ensure that every project reflects a shared vision. We prioritise open communication with our partners and client stakeholders, maintaining trust and accountability throughout the process.

  4. Sustainability and Innovation
We believe in leveraging cutting-edge technology responsibly. Our solutions are designed with sustainability in mind, minimising environmental impact while maximising engagement and educational value. As we innovate, we also remain mindful of our role in preserving cultural heritage for future generations.

  5. Ethical Use of Technology
We are committed to the ethical use of digital technology. ARHistory upholds data protection standards and ensures that user privacy is always respected. We aim to create experiences that educate and inspire, while protecting the dignity and intellectual property of all individuals and institutions involved.

By adhering to these principles, ARHistory aims to contribute positively to the heritage sector and enrich public engagement with art and history in an ethical, respectful, and innovative manner.

Pricing

Developing an app or digital product offers several potential funding avenues, especially considering the cultural, educational, and technological impact the project might have. ARHistory are not grant funding experts however we will be more than happy to help provide any information that would assist in raising funds for our digital projects. We can also be flexible with how we provide our services and offer several options for financing.

One thing that is important to bear in mind is that the majority of our work will require ongoing support and maintenance. This varies based on the project and extends beyond routine maintenance and updates if required (e.g new exhibits or exhibits removed). The below are examples of how projects may be funded and can be flexible to suit the budget and requirements of the project.

1. Single Payment + Monthly Maintenance

The most straightforward lump sum to develop the project and ongoing maintenance fee for the life of the project. This may be the most appropriate way to secure grant funding for the project and is the most straightforward way to finance a project with cost certainty. We can provide a single figure for the project and maintenance for an agreed period, providing a great way to test out AR projects in your location.

2. Partnership

We can offer free services and maintenance in a situation where the visitor is paying directly for the experience on offer. An example of this may be where the visitor pays to download an app or pays to rent an iPad from the reception desk to go on a digital tour and the fee for this is split.

3. Pay per View

Development and maintenance is funded on a pay-per-view basis. An example would be an art gallery where several paintings are available as part of an AR experience where the gallery would be charged an amount per visitor view of the painting. This ensures you are charged directly for visitor experiences with no upfront costs to start the project.

We will always work with you to develop cost-effective solutions and seek to balance commercial interests with your wider objectives.

Every location is unique and so is every project, we do not offer 'cookie cutter' apps or services, everything we do is original and bespoke.
